PSG travel to take on Angers on Friday night as the club from the capital look to maintain their assault on Ligue 1’s summit. On the face of it, this match might look like a formality, but in reality it could cause the French giants a few problems.

Angers have been enjoying an excellent season and are certainly no pushovers. Stéphane Moulin’s side have made themselves tough to beat on their own patch and could make life tough for the visitors here. The two bets that catch the eye ahead of this one are ‘Angers to Score Over 0.5 Goals’ and ‘First Half Double Chance – Angers Win/Draw’.

As touched on above, Angers really have thrived on their own patch of late, winning four of their last five. They did lose against Monaco last time out, but given the severity of beatings that the current league leaders have handed out during the course of the season, a narrow 1-0 defeat was certainly respectable. During that match, the hosts weren’t without a chances and on another day may well have taken something from the game, and even though they didn’t, positive signs were there. Prior to that defeat, Angers had won four on the spin at Stade Raymond Kopa, scoring nine goals and conceding just one in the process.

Having conceded just 13 goals on home soil, Angers have defended with plenty of credit so far this season and have kept a very respectable six clean sheets. It’s also worth noting that Stéphane Moulin’s managed to shutout PSG when the pair met at this venue last season. At the other end of the pitch, although too many heads won’t have been turned, the home side have been ticking along nicely by scoring 20 goals. In scoring nine in their last five at Stade Raymond Kopa, Angers have been in tidy scoring form of late and, certainly shouldn’t be without chances in this one, particularly on the counter.

The visitors are of course one of Ligue 1’s big guns and have the quality to get the better of anyone on their day; however, it hasn’t exactly been plain sailing for Unai Emery this season with his side slipping up on a fair few occasions. Although recent form does look goad at first glance, PSG haven’t been quite as imperious as you might think. It took the visitors an hour to get on the score-sheet against Guingamp last time out, while they weren’t all that convincing in a pair of narrow 2-1 recent wins over both Lyon and Lorient. A 1-0 victory, that came courtesy of an 80th minute penalty, against Nancy before that wasn’t exactly the best result either.

The visiting side have generally looked good going forward – as they should given the firepower at their disposal – but they haven’t had it all their own way defensively, especially on the road. Away from home, PSG have only managed to keep six clean sheets. While this may be a decent total for many teams in this division, considering PSG’s dominance in recent years, it’s not at all impressive.

All things considered, Angers are expected to cause a PSG side who’ve looked far less dominant this season a few problems on Friday night and the bets discussed above are two ways in which punters can make this one pay.
