Angelique Kerber v Venus Williams: Anna Chakvetadze’s betting tip
I think that this match is fairly even but I would give Kerber the edge and she should reach the final. However, it will not be simple and I cannot imagine it being an easy victory of say 6:4 6:4. At least one of the sets will be 7:5 or maybe even be won on a tiebreak. These girls met at the London Olympics on grass and that time Kerber came out on top winning 7:6, 7:6. There is history of these kind of games between the two and it’s highly likely we’ll see something of this nature again today.
In the long rallies the German should have the advantage but, due to her powerful first serve and strong shots in the rallies, Venus should be able to score points. Williams should also take a few risks as Kerber’s serve is not especially powerful.
There is plenty to like about both of these players and a case could be made for either. One thing that I think is for sure is that in battling against each other here we won’t be seeing a game that is over quickly. And therefore a bet on over 20.5 games in this match is the way to play it.
