Both of these sides picked up unlikely points last week as they managed to hold their stronger opposition (Rubin Kazan and CSKA Moscow) to 0-0 draws. This positive start to the season is perhaps a sign of progression at both of these rather average RPL sides.

Amkar have never been a side to blow teams away by scoring a huge amount of goals. However, what they are is a solid team who rely on a good defence to ensure that they have a platform to build on.

You would think that Gazhi Gazhiyev’s side would sign a decent striker in order to push the club on but this is so far yet to happen. This home match against Anzhi is a good opportunity to win and ensure they get an early three points on the board in order to stave off early fears of a relegation dogfight.

With this in mind you would expect Amkar to show a bit more bite in their attacking play.
Pavel Vrba and his Anzhi Makhachkala side went somewhat against their attacking nature to hold off CSKA in their 0-0 draw last weekend.

In a similar vain to Amkar, I would expect the Dagestan side to express themselves in this fixture in order to ensure a good first three points of the season and thus start this season a lot more positively than they did the 2015/16 campaign.

I am not sure which way this game will swing as we see two similar teams come head-to-head and the bookies hold a similar view with good value offered on both results. As previously mentioned I think both sides will be going for the win and therefore we can expect defences to be exposed. Both Teams to Score at 27/20 is the one to go for in this rather unpredictable match-up.
