Ajax looking to advance to the semis
The Dutch team is the most successful team in the Netherlands. They have four Champions League titles but no Europa League title. They look in a good form to go far in this competition but have to overcome AS Roma in their toughest opposition in the UEL so far this season.
In round 32, Ajax overcame Lille beating the French side in both legs 2-1. Then in the round of 16, they eliminated Young Boys of Switzerland 5-0 on aggregate. Having won all of their four matches in the Europa League this season, Ajax enter this match as strong favorites.
Ajax are on a 24 match unbeaten run in all competitions having won 21 and drawn just three. They had clean sheets in four of their last five matches and have the best scoring record in the Dutch league with 85 goals in 27 matches.
AS Roma need to find a good defensive form
Roma have had a good Europa League campaign so far. After topping their group in the first round the Italians eliminated Sporting Braga in round 32 by 5-1 on aggregate and in the round of 16, coach Paulo Fonseca’s team saw the better of Shakhtar Donetsk again by 5-1 on aggregate.
Roma have won four of their last seven matches in all competitions. In the group stage of the UEL, they won four matches, drew one, and lost one. The Romans have conceded five goals in their five away matches in the UEL with two clean sheets.
As for their scoring record, Fonseca’s team have scored in seven of their eight UEL games and eight of their last ten matches in all competitions. Conceding four goals in their last two matches will not help the Giallorossi going into the Ajax game as they need to be at their best defensively if they want to take a good result back to Rome.

Both of these teams have not won this tournament in its current form. Ajax have won the UEFA Cup once. It is a chance for them to get their hands on European silverware. It will be a close match and the winner is very hard to decide although Jax may have a slight edge.
If we look at their scoring stats, we can see that in Ajax’s last seven matches two or more goals have been scored and in Roma’s eight out of nine last matches two or more goals have been scored as well. We, therefore, predict between 2-4 goals to be scored in this match.
