Tipico - Overview & Rating
Pros and cons
Characteristics of the Bookmaker – short
Tipico.com operates in English and German.
Tipico was founded in Malta in 2004. Despite the attempts to promote it on the internet, in our opinion, it is still a predominantly onshore company. Tipico is one of the few bookmakers licensed to run betting offices in Germany, where it has around 850 branches.
Tipico is a betting site registered in Malta. Currently, it has certain popularity among players from Western European countries. Tipico not only accepts sports bets from its online website under the .com domain, but also from numerous locations in various European countries. The online sports betting provider Tipico has extensive casino gambling sections on its website. The interactive platform is available in three language versions – English, German and Turkish. It is only possible to fund a gaming account at Tipico in Euros.
When you evaluate the pre-match line-up in terms of sports coverage, Tipico lags behind most of its competitors, but the tournament action deserves higher marks. The level of odds is mediocre at best. The most attractive odds are found in football, baseball and American football (where the margin on event outcomes is around 6%). The level of odds in the Live section is about the same as in the pre-match.
The licence for online betting is granted by the Malta Gambling Commission.
It is worth mentioning the big amount of options for betting on top events and a wide line. Tipico offers its bettors casino and a live casino as well.
Tipico actively cooperates with German football and sports in general. Its partners are FC Bayern Munich, Bundesliga 1, Bundesliga 2 and FC Bayern. The bookmaker is also the general partner of the Austrian Football Bundesliga (Tipico Bundesliga).
Tipico is very popular in Western Europe. This fame hasn’t been deservedly achieved; it is supported by many facts. The German bookmaker Tipico boasts the following achievements:
More than 1,200 branches are in operation, with more than 400 operating in Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus on the basis of licenses issued by local governments. The headcount is well in excess of 5,000 employees. Tipico is a sponsor of many popular European teams such as FC Leipzig, Bayern, Freiburg, Hamburg and Salzburg in Austria.
Design and layout and user-friendliness of the site/app
The website of Tipico has a concise design and a user-friendly interface. There is no annoying advertising on the pages of the site, everything is focused on the betting process as much as possible. The main page is reserved for live events and the most popular matches to be played in the near future. The left sidebar contains the pre-match menu with sports grouped according to their popularity. From the top menu, you can access the Live section of Tipico as well as the three different Casino sections. On the website, you can choose from two languages: English and German.
Many bettors will love the official Tipico website. It has a simple and appealing design. The main colour is red, but there are also white, blue and black shades.
Registration on the Tipico website is quite simple. You just fill in your personal information in the registration form as with most bookmakers.
The web resource works without failures. In addition to betting on sports, customers are offered to visit the casino. To attract customers, the administration features a list of happy punters on the main page who have won large amounts from their Tipico bets. It is updated frequently.
A statistics section is provided on the Tipico website. It is well laid out, you can not only see the overall results but also the number of goals scored. Watching the matches online is available.
The functionality of Tipico’s mobile site is similar to the desktop version, as is the design with the interface. Players are given access to all sections of the site and events from pre-match and in-play. This version of the site runs automatically – when logged in with a smartphone or tablet.
In terms of mobile applications, we did not find any iOS or Android app for downloading on their official website or other relevant source that we could use in this review.
Services and live
Tipico offers bets on about 20 sports. The choice of events is quite varied and the line is wide. For the top event in football, around 150 positions are given, including statistics: corners, cards, individual players’ scores.
There are no bets on exclusive events, but there is cybersport (Counter-Strike, Dota 2 and FIFA) which is represented rather averagely.
The margin for pre-match betting is around 7-8%,
Tipico is not one of the leaders in the betting industry in terms of the odds on offer. Relatively reasonable odds can be found in top European football. The other sporting disciplines are characterized by high margins which sometimes go over 10%.
The football pre-match is characterized by medium to below-average odds. Margins for the outcomes of games between teams from top leagues reach 5-6%. Matches in less popular tournaments are played with margins of 7% and higher.
Below-average odds are found in the hockey pre-match. The margin for regular-season games is above 7%. In Champions League hockey games and European national championships, the margin is around 9%.
Low odds are typical for pre-match tennis. The margin for ATP and WTA tournaments is about 8%. The margin rises to 10% in less prestigious Challenger events.
Boxing pre-match odds are low. The margin on boxing fights exceeds 10%. More attractive odds can be found in mixed martial arts, where the margin on the main event is 7.5-8%.
Betting on non-sport events (politics, weather, show business) is not accepted in Tipico.
The football pre-match line at Tipico includes the championships of nearly all countries where football is played professionally. The best leagues are the national leagues of England, Germany, Italy and Spain – where bettors can follow second or third tiers and sometimes even regional competitions. Other countries’ championships are usually represented by first divisions and cup competitions. Betting on highlights, scores, halftime stats, totals, handicaps, etc. are represented in the games list.
The prematch in ice hockey includes the most popular leagues NHL and KHL as well as the national championships of several European countries and international tournaments (World Championships, Olympic Games, Ice Hockey League). The event coverage is poor and includes bets on major outcomes, double odds, totals, period totals and handicaps.
The tennis pre-match consists of Grand Slam tournaments, ATP and WTA Tour, Challenger, ITF, Davis Cup.
Boxing is represented only by the most significant title level matches and mixed martial arts – by the most significant fights of UFC tournaments. The betting line-up consists of bets on the main outcomes of events.
The selection of live matches is average, as is the number of betting options. The live betting selection for an unpopular football match is around 30-40. An unpopular hockey match is 25-35.
Bookmaker focuses on German and Austrian championships, where the odds are higher and the coverage is bigger.
The average margin in Live in-play betting) is 9-10%.
The CashOut service allows the bettor to ask for an early settlement of the pre-match or in-play bet. The approval of the request is made by the bookmaker. In case of a positive outcome, your account will be topped up with the funds immediately. The amount the bettor receives for a bet depends on the odds during the time when he is placing the bet and the current odds for the same outcome.
The minimum bet is 1 euro. The maximum bet is decided by the bookmaker’s office for each event individually.
The live section at Tipico betting shop is well designed. The line includes a large number of events from popular sports disciplines – football, tennis, basketball. The betting line-up is inferior to the pre-match line-up by the number of available markets, but the odds level is almost the same. Tipico’s live video streaming of many events is also available. The odds are updated in a timely manner and betting is accepted without the slightest delay, which indicates the stable operation of the bookmaker’s live platform.

Reliability, Integrity and Safety
Tipico is registered in Malta and accepts bets at land-based branches and online via their official website in the .com domain zone. Tipico is targeted mainly at Western European players.
License: Tipico betting company operates under licences from Malta, Denmark, Italy and Belgium.
Based on a comprehensive analysis, we found Tipico to be a reasonably comfortable online betting platform and financially reliable. It can be recommended to novice bettors; however, experienced players will probably be disappointed by the low odds on offer.
Tipico’s pre-match lineup is average in terms of sports and not too deep in terms of event coverage. The live section is convenient for betting and the platform is stable.
Tipico is licensed for all German federal states and even certified by the German TÜV. All data is transmitted with SSL encryption and Tipico has also implemented the FIFA early warning system in order to detect possible sports betting fraud at an early stage. When it comes to sports betting licences, Tipico is registered with the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), which is very reputable. This makes Tipico one of the safest addresses for sports betting fans.
What does the site not have?
Partial cash out is not available at Tipico. The odds are average. The margins are quite high. Tipico offers only a few sports disciplines. The coverage of events that are less popular is quite poor. The bonus offers are also not that attractive, especially for experienced bettors. Tipico does not offer various languages or currencies to choose from which can be definitely discouraging.
Products and apps
Tipico offers sports betting and in-play betting for its users. The same options are available in mobile mode and in the iOS app. The bookmaker doesn’t offer an Android app yet.
