Real Madrid Offers €4.8 Million-Per-Year Deal to Forward, Player Demands €6 Million Raise
Real Madrid are set to retain the services of Marco Asensio beyond the current campaign, according to reports. The Spanish international has managed to work his way back into Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and has proved his worth to the club.
In response, Real Madrid have tabled a four-year contract offer for the 27-year-old, with a yearly salary of €4.8 million. Although this represents a slight increase from his current wages, which stand at around €4.5 million per season, Asensio’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is reportedly seeking a more lucrative deal worth €6 million-a-year net.
However, it is believed that Real Madrid are unlikely to exceed the €5 million mark, as they view Asensio as a squad player rather than a guaranteed starter. Despite this, the player himself has stated his desire to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Asensio has been linked with a move away from the club, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly attempting to sign him during the January transfer window. Meanwhile, several clubs from the Premier League and Serie A are also said to be monitoring his situation.
With his future still up in the air, it remains to be seen whether Asensio will receive the prominent role and increased salary he is seeking, or whether a move away from Real Madrid may be on the horizon for the former Mallorca star.
