Pep Guardiola reveals why he subbed Erling Haaland off in goalless draw with Borussia Dortmund
City faced Dortmund in the Champions League group stage game on Tuesday, October 25, and played a goalless draw.
Guardiola made a decision to replace Haaland at the beginning of the second half as Bernardo Silva came on.
Following the game, City manager revealed the reason behind Haaland’s substitution.
“Three things: I saw him so tired. The second one he had a bit of a fever, like Joao. The third, he had a knock in his feet. That is why he wasn’t able to play in the second half…,” said Guardiola via Simon Bajkowski of Manchester Evening News.
“I don’t know right now. They were a little bit concerned at half-time but I saw him walking OK at the end.”
