Mick Schumacher: Disappointed with the failure, but there are a lot of positive moments
“Naturally, I’m very disappointed. But it happens, it’s Formula 1, and everything is on the line. You have to accept the bitter truth, but there are a lot of positives.
We knew we had speed, but we had different Grand Prix. It’s great to have a successful qualifying and show a good race pace. We did not bring updates – the car is essentially the same as at the start of the season, and things are still going great.
The track was wet and dry. We had to find new levels of grip, and adapt to the changing wind. We found a rhythm and I’m sure we could have achieved more.
It’s always difficult to accept that outcome – perhaps harder when you’re riding in the points, building up the pace in pursuit of Esteban Ocon, and coming off the seventh position or so. It’s not a good situation. Hopefully, luck will be on my side in the end. I’ve had some tough seasons in the past and then I’ve been able to win. I’ve got enough races ahead of me and I don’t doubt there will be chances,” said Mick.
Mick Schumacher finished sixth in qualifying and claimed points in the race, but dropped out for technical reasons.
