The Red Devils’ first-choice keeper David de Gea is yet to sign a new contract at the club, with his position as the team’s top goalkeeper now not guaranteed. He has been at fault for several goals or missed big chances for the opposition, which has led to a loss of confidence from the fans.
In the most recent game against West Ham United, the Spaniard made a costly error that resulted in a goal for the opposition and made it harder for United to fight for the Premier League top-four finish.
According to Times Sport, United are reportedly considering signing a new goalkeeper, while also contemplating the possibility of giving academy graduate Dean Henderson another chance in the squad.
Henderson, who is currently on loan move at Nottingham Forest, sustained a thigh injury in January and is on the path to recovery now. The England professional’s contract runs until 2025, and it will be up to manager Erik ten Hag to decide his future at the club.
