Jurgen Klopp doesn’t understand betting odds

When asked about betting in the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp remarked: “I don’t understand the numbers!

“Where I come from you keep your money… you don’t do something like this.

It’s not too important for me but it’s better we have something like an optimistic mood around.

I think in this moment Liverpool feels good. That’s how it is, they’ve seen us playing, we had this very important game now against Hull and we did it in a really impressive way.”

It’s nice to see [the table] but the one problem is the number, it is six games now so it’s at an early stage which is the only problem.

I’m happy about this but I know there is a long way to go.”

Liverpool have 13 points after six matches and are currently joint third in the Premier League with Everton and Arsenal. However, bookmaker William Hill has put Liverpool second on the list of title contenders, offering punters odds of 5/1.

The main favourites for the title this season are Manchester City (61/100) who have won all six of their opening matches. After Manchester City and Liverpool are Arsenal and Manchester United who are both rated at 9/1.

Note that in late July, the probability of Liverpool lifting the Premier League trophy was estimated at odds of 8/1.
