Rep. Roybal-Allard questions National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Francis Collins on the failure of animal experiments to produce treatments for humans. Experiments on animals are failing to lead to treatments for humans, so why does NIH spend more than $15 billion of public tax dollars to fund experiments on animals? PETA's mission statement is that animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way:

I'm thankful that Rep. Roybal-Allard is questioning the NIH because I don't agree with the government using my tax dollars to experiment on animals when superior technology exists that generates results, which can actually benefit humans.

This waste of animal lives and taxpayer dollars is reprehensible.

Bravo! Nearly half of NIH s budget is wasted on cruel and ineffective experiments on animals. It's time to make better use of taxpayer money and stop tormenting animals, by directing funds into advanced, animal-free, and human relevant research that holds real hope of treatments and cures.
