Bookies make Manchester United Europa League favourites

Bookmaker William Hill believe that the favourites for the Europa League this year are Manchester United who will play in Group A alongside Fenerbahce, Feyenoord and Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk. The odds on Jose Mourinho’s team winning the title are 6/1.

The second favourites are Italian side Roma who will come up against Viktoria Plzen of the Czech Republic, Austria Vienna, and Romanian title holders Astra Giurgiu. The probability of Spalletti’s side lifting the trophy is 8/1.

You can also bet on fellow Italians Inter Milan or Fiorentina to win the trophy at 14/1.

Spanish sides have done extremely well in this competition in the last ten years or so and this year they are strongly represented by Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal who are both priced at 16/1.

The price on Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg to win their second UEFA Cup/Europa League (they will play against AZ Alkmaar, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Dundalk in Group D) is 20/1. The same price is given for German club Schalke 04 and Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine.

The chances of Kransodar, the other Russian side in the competition, are rated at 66/1. Oleg Kononov’s side will come up against Schalke 04, Red Bull Salzburg and OGC Nice in the group stage.

The outsiders for the tournament are considered to be Maccabi Tel Aviv, Azerbaijani side Qabala and Kazakhs team Astana who are all rated at 500/1. The least likely of all the teams to win the tournament are Irish side Dundalk who are priced at a colossal 750/1.
