PROGRESSIVE’S PARTY: Former NAACP president Ben Jealous, labor leader Dolores Huerta, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and former Vice President Al Gore will address Netroots Nation, the leading annual progressive conference in the United States. Wisconsin Congressman Mark Pocan and Randy Bryce, the Wisconsin Democrat who hopes to win Paul Ryan’s seat, also will speak. The event is Aug. 10–13 in Atlanta. Connect: netrootsnation.org.

CALLING FOR CONSERVATION: Grassroots North Shore is hosting a “Save Wells and Waterways” presentation by the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters at 4 p.m. Aug. 13 at the North Shore Presbyterian Church, 4048 N. RSVP FOR REGISTRATION CAMPAIGN: A simple way to get involved is to register voters. And that’s the goal of the National Voter Registration Day, which takes place Sept. 26. The nonprofit VOTE sponsors a webinar at 2 p.m. Aug. 15. Connect: nationalvoterregistrationday.org.

FAIR TIME: The first Green Alliance Sustainability Fair includes presentations and activities to make environmental sustainability fun. SWEET TOPIC: Bee the Change is a partnership involving the Zeidler Center for Public Discussion, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Midnight Run and Beevangelists. The partnership works to encourage people to become “beevangelists,” certified in beekeeping and dialogue facilitation. SUSTAIN DANE: Students, activists, professionals and volunteers will unite Nov. 29 on the UW-Madison campus for the Badger Bioneers Conference. The goal of the “Human(ity): Our Future Together” conference is to learn skills to “build a movement for a happy, healthy future in our region and beyond.” Registration is underway. AROUND THE AMMO PLANT: In late July, U.S. Army representatives affirmed that the military would not build a proposed public water system for Sauk County residents who live near the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant. The announcement was made at a meeting of more than 80 people gathered at the Sauk City Public Library. Citizens for Safe Water Around Badger has assembled fact sheets and maps related to the issue.
